Dear Friend,

As Congress continues to consider the future of healthcare, I have made it very clear that Congress must follow through on the promises we made to the American people. We were not sent to Congress to replace Obamacare with Obamacare-lite.

In 2009, Congress focused on coverage instead of focusing on lowering costs. This has resulted in an unstable healthcare market where Americans cannot afford the plans they were forced to have. Rather than focusing on what is best for insurance companies, I believe Congress should focus on bending down the cost curve of healthcare so that Americans can have choices that don't break the bank.

I voted against the proposed legislation in the Budget Committee because it simply would not lower costs for Americans. It is not too late to improve this legislation. As it moves to the House floor, I look forward to working with the President and Congressional leadership to create a healthcare plan that increases competition, lowers costs, and puts Americans first.

In case you missed it, you can hear my thoughts on the healthcare debate by watching my recent interviews. Links to the videos are below:

I always enjoy having constituents stop by to visit the Capitol and my office. Hearing from my constituents helps me better represent you while I am in Washington.
I was glad to meet the Culpeper Christian School outside the Capitol to
discuss the Judeo-Christian tradition, and its impact on Western Civilization.

It was good to see Martha Boneta of Liberty Farm. I was able to take Martha
on the Speaker's Balcony, one of the best views of our nation's capital.

A few of my constituents "Stormed Congress" to discuss rising healthcare
costs and potential legislative solutions.
