WASHINGTON - Rep. Brat issued the following statement following passage of the Tax Reform and Jobs Act, H.R. 1 in the House of Representatives by a vote of 227-205.

“Today’s vote is a historic accomplishment for Republicans. We are acting to keep our promise to the American people that we would deliver pro-growth economic policies and give the American people a little more in their take home pay. Wages have been stagnant for decades and economic growth has been anemic and job creation has been far too low. If the Senate gets the job done and passes a bill as well, the tide will finally be turning for the American worker and family. And Main Street job creators will see the lowest rate since World War II. Our bill eliminates countless special interest loopholes created by Washington insiders to benefit their pet issues. Today House Republicans signaled loud and clear that our priority is the American worker.”
