WASHINGTON - Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) voted in support of the Budget for Fiscal Year 2018 which passed 219-206 in the House of Representatives. Appropriations legislation for the upcoming fiscal year has already set FY18 funding levels. The significance of this bill is that it includes reconciliation instructions for pro-growth tax reform.

Rep. Brat serves as a member of the House Budget Committee and released the following statement:

“This budget resolution is evidence of the hard work put in by the House, Senate, and White House to overcome differences and work together to reach an agreement on the priorities for accomplishing fundamental tax reform. Collaboration and input from rank and file members of the Republican Conference was key to successfully passing a budget, which is the legislative vehicle we can use to overhaul our burdensome tax code that strains the pocketbooks of most Americans and businesses. We are getting things done in Congress and I am committed to keeping the promises I made to my constituents to pass responsible and pro-growth tax reform.

“Our tax code has not been updated in over 30 years and I look forward to continuing to provide input as these tax priorities make their way through the legislative process. This is a historic window of opportunity and we must enact meaningful reforms to reignite our economy and give the forgotten men and women of today and future generations a chance to chase after the American Dream.”
