ORANGE - Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) attended and made brief remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Lohmann Specialty Coatings, LLC, a German-owned global company. At the event Rep. Brat met with local leadership of the company as well as Lohmann President Steven De Jong. Their discussions included how the United States can work to increase wages by enhancing productivity of workers. The key to success is the partnerships Lohmann is fostering with local educators to promote technical training, apprenticeships, and internships.

The ribbon-cutting event marks the completion of a $6.7 million expansion that will provide an additional 50+ jobs in Orange County. The new facility will manufacture adhesives used to supply automotive manufacturers. Lohmann chose to build in Virginia because of the commonwealth’s competitive tax and regulatory environment. The efforts of a bipartisan group of local leaders, legislators, and Governor Terry McAuliffe were instrumental in supporting the expansion project in Orange.

Rep. Brat issued the following statement:

“I am pleased that Lohmann chose to make additional investments into the community of Orange, Virginia. The celebration today is a testament to the efforts made by countless leaders in Virginia to create an environment where global businesses like Lohmann can flourish due to the low cost of doing business, a tax-friendly environment, and access to an exceptional workforce."
