WASHINGTON - Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) made the following statement following the successful passage of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) in the House of Representatives:

“There is no debate that Obamacare is failing under its own weight. Too many Virginia families on Obamacare have seen  double-digit premium increases year after year. Just this week Virginia saw another health insurance provider exit the marketplace due to skyrocketing prices, reducing the choices available to Virginia families.

My yes vote today was about keeping the promise I made to my constituents to work towards lowering health care costs. While the AHCA does not fully repeal Obamacare as I had hoped, it is an important step towards reducing premiums and returning health care decision-making back to the American people. The AHCA rolls back Obamacare mandates and repeals economy crippling taxes while maintaining basic protections for those with pre-existing conditions.

Our work is not done. I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues to improve the bill. And I remain committed to fully repealing Obamacare.”
